Nowadays, life is increasingly complex for our families, especially those challenged daily by financial insecurity, job instability and the stress brought on by living in poverty.
The Up Center believes in a multi-generational approach that invests in children as well as the needs of parents through effective, intentional and holistic services. 90 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to benefiting a family.
Our Family Promise Fund ensures that we are able to respond to the changing needs of families in our community.
~ Tina Gill, President & CEO
Our vision is a healthy community where children and families thrive.
When we take a holistic approach to supporting parents as well as children, we help build the foundation of a strong community. Stronger families mean that children are ready for school, parents are prepared to invest their talents in the workplace, home is a place of security, love and hope, and neighborhoods flourish. Our community becomes a better place to live, work and give.
Our mission is to change the trajectory of families in crisis to wholeness.
Families are the foundation of a flourishing community!
Our services and community collaboration help build those strong families that improve our communities. Our programs meet the diverse needs of children and families including:
- Counseling and mental health skill-building
- Early childhood education and youth mentoring
- Foster care
- Financial and housing education and counseling
- Workforce readiness and development
- Disability services
The Family Promise Fund
The Family Promise Fund is The Up Center’s dedicated fund for helping families. When you invest in the Family Promise Fund, you are choosing to support families so that we can continue to respond to their evolving needs. Hampton Roads’ young children living in low-income families today will become tomorrow’s parents, employees and leaders. Given opportunities to reach their full potential, they can become great contributors to our community, building their own resilient, stable families and communities, bolstering our economy.
